Hello fellow Cool Tools participants! This is my first year participating in the course and I am very excited to get started. This is my second year as a Library Media Specialist at Guilderland High School. I am always trying to keep up with the latest educational technologies to use with students and teachers and to use myself! I think this forum will be an excellent way to learn, troubleshoot and discuss different technology tools with others in the field.
I have to admit that this is my very first official blog! I actually resurrected an old WordPress blog that I created just to play around with it, but I have never really followed through with posting things regularly. I enjoy journaling so I think this will be fun!
Hi Kelsey, I have been around a bit longer than you have as a librarian, 15 yrs. But I am still just as excited about learning new things as the first day I started.
That’s good to hear! I think that this is a profession that will always be evolving to suit the current information environment – that’s what makes it so exciting 🙂
Hi Kelsey, so we meet for Book Group and meet online! Love the look of your site– are those your color-coded book shelves?
Thanks Alicia! They are not mine but I love the idea! I got the image from Creative Commons.
The books on the shelves remind me of a decorating spread in a magazine where the designer had turned the books spine in so the colorful dust jackes wouldn’t distract from the room. I thought that was the stupidest idea that I had ever heard and couldn’t believe that people would decorate with books without wanting to be able to find or read them!
How strange! I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to tolerate that as a librarian. Even my personal bookshelves have some kind of organization for easy retrieval. And besides the spines are much prettier.
Hey Kelsey!! Your blog looks great so far 🙂 -Amy
Hey Amy! Nice to see you on here! I’m going to go take a look at your blog now 🙂
Kelsey,
I love the look of your blog theme and page.
I also had an old word press blog and have reactivated a new one. A real leaning experience for me.
Thanks! I definitely think the best way to learn is by doing, so this will be good practice!
Kelsey, I love the rainbow of books you found. Looks great.
